Minnesota Officer Who Fatally Shot Daunte Wright Resigns

Officer Kim Potter, the officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright, has resigned.

Both she and Police Chief Tim Gannon have both left the police force after the shooting death of 20 year old Daunte Wright. Gannon says he believed this was an accidental shooting after Potter could be heard yelling "I'll tase you! I'll tase you! "Taser! Taser! Taser!" during a struggle with Daunte Wright. Although she yelled "Taser!" she fired a shot at Daunte just before the car speeds away. You can then hear Potter say "Holy (expletive)! I shot him." That shot killed Daunte Wright.

Protests have erupted in Minneapolis. A familiar sight after the killing of George Floyd and just a couple of weeks into the trial of former officer Derek Chauvin. Parts of Minneapolis were placed on a curfew which went ignored by hundreds on Monday night so they could continue protesting the death of Daunte Wright.
