The world has lost another legend. It has been reported, comedic genius, John Witherspoon A.k.a "Pops" has passed away at age 77.

“It is with deepest sorrow that we can confirm our beloved husband and father, John Witherspoon, one of the hardest working men in show business, died today at his home in Sherman Oaks at the age of 77,” said Witherspoon's family in a statement to Deadline. “He is survived by his wife Angela, and his sons JD, Alexander, and a large family. We are all in shock, please give us a minute for a moment in privacy and we will celebrate his life and his work together. John used to say ‘I’m no big deal’, but he was huge deal to us.”

A huge deal indeed. Witherspoon was known for his roles in many television sitcoms and movies from The Wayans Bros., The Jazz Singer, Hollywood Shuffle, Boomerang, I'm Gonna Get You Sucka and of course Friday, Next Friday and Friday After Next. Of course that list isn't all inclusive. Witherspoon was expected to also star in the finale Last Friday.

He will definitely be missed. Condolences to his family, friends and fans during this time.
