The Carters popped out at the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King in support of their young movie star, Blue Ivy.
On Monday (December 9), Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a surprise red carpet appearance alongside their daughter, Blue Ivy, at the Los Angeles premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King.
The couple was also joined by Bey's mother, Tina Knowles, as they posed for photos with Blue, who voices Kiara in the film. Mufasa: The Lion King also stars Bey and Donald Glover, who reprise their voice-over roles from 2019's live-action The Lion King, playing Nala and Simba, Kiara's parents, respectively.
Monday's premiere marked a rare red carpet appearance for Bey, who often opts to do her own photoshoots for major events, including the Grammys and the debut of her concert film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. The singer stood off to the side beaming while her 12-year-old daughter took solo shots on the carpet before the family joined her for group photos.
In a behind-the-scenes look at the mother and daughter recording Mufasa: The Lion King, Bey expressed how proud she was of Blue for taking on the role at such a young age.
The Carters celebrated Blue's accomplishment as Jay-Z faces a lawsuit alleging that he raped a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. The lawsuit was initially filed by attorney Tony Buzbee on behalf of a "Jane Doe" in October, listing Diddy as the defendant, but was amended on Sunday (December 8) to include Jay-Z.
Jay-Z quickly released a statement on Sunday, vehemently denying the allegations against him and calling the lawsuit a "blackmail attempt."
“My only heartbreak is for my family," Jay-Z said in part. "My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”
