Lizzo surprised her mother with the sweetest Christmas gift!
The âTruth Hurtsâ musicianâs mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, couldnât believe her eyes when her daughter presented her with an awesome early Xmas present on Sunday (December 20) in the form of a fresh whip â and her emotional reaction was caught all on camera.
âOkay, Merry Christmas Mommy,â Lizzo says in the clip just before Shari opens her eyes to see the flashy black car in the driveway. âGot my mommy a brand new Audi for Xmas đâ the 32-year-old captioned the video clip showing her motherâs teary-eyed reaction to the present.
The âGood As Hellâ star recalled, âI remember crying in my car when my daddy passed, no job no money nowhere to live, wishing I could one day provide for my family. I couldnt do it for my dad so ima make sure I spoil Mama. Happy holidays yâall.â
As fans know, Lizzo, who lost her father when she was 21 years old, left the University of Houston shortly after his passing and had been living out of her car for a year as she tried to launch her music career.
"I kind of really gave up," the Grammy-nominated artist told CBS This Morning in January. "I was depressed. I didn't have a purpose, like I didn't feel like I had a purpose for being a musician or anything. So that turned into, 'Oh can I sleep on your couch,' and that eventually, I got really guilt-ridden. So all I had was this car. It was a Subaru."
The tragedy sparked a fire in Lizzo, who âused everything that happened to me and made myself stronger.â
Earlier this year, Lizzo took home three awards at the 2020 Grammys and has since become of the most inspiring pop stars of her time.
