A star has truly been born! In case you've been living under a rock, a woman from London recently went viral after she was filmed belting out Lady Gaga's "Shallow" from A Star Is Born at a subway station in the UK city. The clip came from UK prankster Kevin Freshwater for a segment called "Finish The Lyrics" — and she crushed it! Now, she's slayed the song again while appearing on Ellen, because Ellen DeGeneres makes dreams come true.
The woman, whose name is Charlotte Awbery, took over the stage on Ellen's talk show to flawlessly sing the full version of "Shallow," and once again blew everyone away. Dressed in an off white pant suit, she looked and sounded like an ANGEL!
A little background on Charlotte: she is actually a singer in real life, so Freshwater hit the jackpot when he stumbled across Awbery in the subway station. Because as she explained, this was not staged and she "was literally on [her] way to meet [her] friend." Charlotte told Ellen that she sings at weddings, pubs, bars and restaurants, and has been doing it for 15 years. She also shared this touching advice from her father: "My dad's always said to me, just, 'Wherever you are, always just sing wherever you are. Never ever give up.' He's right."
Also in the audience during Charlotte's Ellen performance was the prankster who captured her original viral video in the first place, Kevin. He said of meeting the singer, "I do a lot of different styles of content, but this one's just been released. And I was in London for two about weeks approaching so [many] different random people, and I come across Charlotte, and she just blew me away. I think, in the video, the only thing I could say was 'Wow!' I was just in shock. And she deserves this, and I [came] to tears then watching you sing. You deserve this."
And because Ellen is the queen of amazing gifts, she gifted Charlotte a year-long pass for the London tube, so that she won't have to pay to get to any of her gigs, as well as 10,000 pounds.
