6 High Notes from CMT’s ‘Artist Of The Year’

The 2019 CMT 'Artists of the Year' ceremony took place at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday (Oct. 15). Among the 2019 Artists of the Year honorees were some of country music's best: Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Dan + Shay, and Thomas Rhett.

In case you missed it, here are Cody Alan's 6 notable moments from the evening.

1.Dan + Shay set the bar and opened the show with their Grammy-winning song “Tequila,” the audience went wild and Thomas Rhett, Lindsay Ell, and Lady Antebellum turned the tune into a singalong from their seats.

2.Carrie Underwood wowed fans from miles away as she belted “Two Black Cadillacs” and “Blown Away” LIVE from her show in Ohio.

3.The tributes to CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime honoree Reba McEntire were a true tribute to her contribution to country music! Lady Antebellum gave us life when they performed “Is There Life Out There” and Sam Hunt knocked us dead with his rendition of “Fancy.”

4.Thomas Rhett used his acceptance speech to pray for fellow honoree Kane Brown who lost his drummer in a car accident.

5.Kane Brown made a surprise appearance after originally stating that he was not going to be in attendance due to the recent tragedy. His speech caused water works from the audience.

6.Chrissy Metz wailed on “Even Though I’m Leaving,” honoring Luke Combs. Thomas Rhett was later spotted commending her on her performance and humbly introducing himself.
