Small Nevada Town Tells People To Stay Away From Area 51 Music Festival

Facebook Page Created As Joke To "Storm Area 51" Becomes Viral Sensation

Residents of a small town in the middle of the Nevada desert that sits less than 50 miles from Area 51 are not happy with all the publicity they have been getting in recent weeks. The town of Rachel, which has around 50 residents, has been in the spotlight after a Facebook event calling for people to storm the classified military base went viral.

Over two million people marked themselves as going to the event, forcing the U.S. military to warn people to stay away from the base. Matty Roberts, the man who created the original event as a joke, has canceled the plans to storm the base but is now planning to hold a three-day music festival near the small town dubbed Alienstock.

Residents of Rachel say they are worried about what will happen if a large number of people show up on September 20. Town officials posted a warning on their official site that there are no services in the town, and that anybody who attends will be on their own.

"There is no gas and no store. The Inn is booked for that weekend. If you plan on attending the event you must be experienced in camping, hiking and surviving in a harsh desert environment and have a vehicle in good shape. You must be prepared to be completely on your own for food, water, gas etc."

They also advised people to avoid the residential areas of the small town because "most residents do not like where this event is going and will respond accordingly."

They suggested that anybody who wants to attend Alienstock to go to the Alien Research Center in Hiko, Nevada, which is about 45 miles east of Rachel.
